I know that does happen,not sure if it's invariable?
The notation that a Mason can go from 3rd to 32nd in a weekend
is something I learned from a Catholic Encyclopedia,and I have
to say it reflects unfavorably on the meaningfulness of the
Degrees.

Like Catholic bishops,Mormon apostles,United States judges,
British peers,and captains of industry,Masons are a group
whose hierarchy I assiduously study from the outside,but am
not a member of.:)
